During the previous 6+ years, a small group of passionate and dedicated alumni of the Emerald Knights and Nite Express Drum & Bugle Corps have happily worked to resurrect the Tournament of Drums and form a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and perpetuating drum corps in the community.
They have now published an informative and entertaining book called Marking Time: A History of Drum & Bugle Corps in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The history of drum & bugle corps in Cedar Rapids dates back to 1928, when a French immigrant bugler organized what was known as the Playground Drum & Bugle Corps.
Learn about the earliest days of the city's drum corps through the present time in this professionally written and designed hardcover book, featuring personal stories of alumni, past staff, volunteers, drum majors and directors.
Reminisce about your own experiences and see photos of the Musketeers, Boys YMCA Corps, Moose Girls, Cadets, Grenadiers, Emerald Knights, Nite Express, Grant Wood All-City Drum Corps and more, as well as memorabilia through the years in this specially created book.
